Guest: Elise Davis-McFarland, PhD, CCC-SLP - There is research that indicates that poverty affects children’s brain development, so we will discuss whether that may account for a different language development that results in poor children needing speech and language therapy. Dr. Davis-McFarland will share three things we need to know about language acquisition and poverty. She will share 2 resources to become a better practitioner and/or learn more about poverty and language acquisition, and lastly, she will share an actionable strategy for tomorrow’s assessments.
