Was a big fan of the old format and rated John in that. Has gone from genuinely funny, while providing great analysis, to being dry to the point I can’t remember the last time I got more than 10 mins through one of these episodes, if I’ve even bothered to make an attempt.

I really miss the old format.

Massive guest this week lads

Since the departure of the previous host the podcast has become a lot more dry and formal without any of the comedic elements that were in previous podcasts. I’m finding my mind wander through most of the modern podcasts due to the amount of dry analysis that’s being discussed without any comic...Read full review »

Anytime Jon and JJ are together it’s magic. Either way, listen each week. Keep up the great work!

Really enjoy the range of topics and analytical approach of the host Jon. However I find that podcasts with one host and a constant changing interviewee feel stilted and awkward. The lack of constant camaraderie and the more formal interview format leads to podcasts that feel almost tedious and...Read full review »

The great minds at The Athletic have inexplicably relaunched this once unique and engaging podcast into an imitation of every other generic football podcast on the planet.

Was a fun light hearted podcast with regular panel who were all funny. Then they got in one boring guy who didn’t fit in with the others. Was worse than before but fine. Then all the funny ones left and it’s now just the boring guy ‘interviewing’ people you have never heard of. Why why why

I appreciate how this show can balance nuanced, expert level, in-depth discussion about football while also being comedic and fun to watch. Hosts are great and entertaining

All credit to Jon (some of the topics are very interesting) but this podcast is so dull without Joe and JJ.

Look it’s unfortunate the old pod ended, but Joe is doing well. The new format means some of them are hit and miss. Unlikely previously, I won’t necessarily want to listen to every subject/guest. And, please, although well-intentioned the opening intro conversation is infuriatingly redundant....Read full review »

Preferred the old format, felt it was more engaging. The cadence of the new presenter is too fast, and i dont find it as enjoyable. Have moved on to other athletic pods

Sorry but the new stuff sucks… long time listening has completely lost interest

On the verge of unsubscribing due to the new format. I’m holding on to the hope that they’ll bring back the previous fun format as this new stuff is so boring that it nearly sends me to sleep

I love the Tifo crew so much. The YouTube videos are amazing. This is a great podcast. Wish there were more. Can’t get enough Tifo content.

The core of the brand was simple: joyful football journalism. They threw that out when they relaunched the show. Now the show is like listening to two newspapers talk to one another. It is possible to be smart AND happy - but they seem to have forgotten that. There really isn’t anything to...Read full review »

Been subscribed since the Umaxit days (ask your parents) but at the end of last season they changed the format of the show from reviewing the weekend’s action to, well, it’s unclear. Feels like they’ve got a bunch of subscribers they don’t want to lose but also don’t want to serve the show that...Read full review »

The new format is seriously boring Before there was probably too much personality but the football content was interesting and the listening experience was entertaining. Now there is zero personality and it has made the it so dull that I can’t get through more than 10 minutes of any of the last...Read full review »

I’m really sorry guys, but Tifo has gone from a really entertaining, funny and yet very informative football podcast to an incredibly po-faced weekly lecture. It’s a real shame; the stuff you’re covering with this new interview format IS interesting, but there’s not real need for the soporific...Read full review »

Frankly he can’t carry a show that was previously predicated on levity and humour. Human equivalent of watching paint dry. Bring Joe and JJ back!!!

The old Tifo would have been a 5/5. The ensemble aspect along with the humor and genuine football insights were what made the show great. The new format is just nowhere near as compelling. John is fine as a part of a panel, but cannot carry the show on his own. Hope they eventually get back to a...Read full review »

Tifo as we know it, as we loved it, is dead. Now it’s as stale as any other Athletic podcast. The patter between John and the producer is dull and derivative. What you’ve done lads, is taken something unique and fun and turned it into something that’s the opposite of that. That’s what you’ve...Read full review »

The pod’s new format isn’t the best: it sounds like a lot of football podcasts I’ve listened to. The old format was insightful while offering great, nerdy banter. Alas, time’s have changed.

These podcasts are great until they talk about the club you support, which is when you realize they actually don’t have much more insight than your average Sky Sports pundit. Despite how intelligent and well-informed these guys may seem, they often don’t actually know who’s been playing for a...Read full review »

I was recommended this podcast by a friend and the first episode I had to skip 10 minutes in to get to actual football discussion. After about 30 seconds talking about man city winning the premier league, they’ve now been blabbering about god knows what and I’m at minute 19. That’s enough for me

I must hear more voices- all of the voices - all of the sounds - the American coach, the tree character Tolkien made up, the valley girl, Frodo, gollum/yodo - this cracked me up- the British punk band who sing in American, eagles, grieeezman, Rooney, all of them - the best parts of the pod have...Read full review »

Been listening for four years. Starting to lose the appeal now… gets quite predictable. Less funny the more they try to be funny. I like the pod, but the analysis is much less dense than the videos, which are amazing and something everyone should watch. On the pod, there’s lots of fun tangents, which I find entertaining, but they seem like they could be polarizing. In sun, I’m on the “entertained side” of the divide and...Read full review »

I appreciate the comradery but it’s gotten out of hand recently. A bit of banter is fine but i don’t listen to this podcast for three guys chuckling on about whatever.
