To Neil Strauss and his ENTIRE team:
FIRST: “That laugh” ...and Jaden handing you the note saying Chris is avoiding the question while sounding like a blubbering mess, and sounding so evasive turned my intuition ON. SECOND: Then all was confirmed to me when you read out the note that “Chris” wrote to Jade while harassing her ending with “ha ha ha”. THIRD: The final laugh heard of Christopher during his performance as a police officer... When you said: “Follow the lie” and “that laugh” I was pitting the connecting pieces together... super chilling given the circumstances of Christopher’s dad initially laughing, then of the note to Jade written as a laugh, and the final audition laugh heard by Christopher. I BOW DOWN. Your investigative journalism itself especially in this case, is bar none. Super visual and descriptive to put me in each scene you described whenever I closed my eyes. The most intense time where i felt you at your most human vulnerability, even apart from the story itself, is when I opened my eyes wide in a startling instant as soon as I heard your GASP upon finding out about Chris being shot. I was in that moment, wide eyed in a gasp right next to you in that “scene”. Goosebumps. Not sure how many people have called you a genius in your life, but I am confirming it with your additional sixth sense and full awareness of your intuitive voice - I know you hear it loud and clear. Everything done in this podcast was brilliant in the way you showed how Christopher and Chris were tied together as father and son and how potentially there was some sort of triangle going on with the final three persons of interest discussed in the conclusion of the podcast (Chris’s brother included). A haunting laugh is simmered for me underneath this entirely tragedy and unveiling of the story and it is what makes it very eerie and expository throughout the entire investigation. Neil, had you not said “that laugh” initially about Chris laughing on the phone, the idea of “follow the lie” would never have had a significant impact on me towards the conclusion of this mess and the unraveling of the entire podcast investigation. Brilliant work to the entire team that was a part of this project and the secrets and answers were all found in the tiniest details due to such relentless and meticulous investigation! Well done and I have immense admiration for you, your entire team, and the superb investigative journalism that came through at its finest.
