“I think this podcast is generally excellent - like many of the 5 star reviews - and I am a Guardian supporter. It does important work and is engaging and wide-ranging. My one issue over the years is that often, it doesn’t answer the question it poses or centre the title it suggests. Normally this is just a minor frustration when you reach the end but in the case of the episode on supposedly the bravery of Gisele Pelicot, it felt more irresponsible. I paused before playing it, wondering if I needed to hear yet again the details of this gruesome case. But, since the Guardian seemed to be focusing on a different angle, I did. The vast majority of the episode fixated on the same horrendous details that have been widely reported and would have been at home in any of the tabloids, as was the fascination with the perpetrators. The place afforded to her, her bravery and the feminist movement growing to support her in France was too small to my mind. I felt uncomfortable for having listened to it. Otherwise, an important source of analysis.”
