“This podcast was the best PD I could’ve done as I stepped into a Peacher* role in a specialist school 18 months ago, and I’ve been banging on to everyone I know about it ever since.
I’ve learned, laughed and cried so much while listening. Too Peas has made me a better mum and a much, much better teacher.
Every single pea shoot I teach has found a spot in my heart and I feel enormously privileged to be able to see them shine. Of course, some days are more sparkly than others, but my heart is bursting with pride when I see those kids achieving big and little smilestones alike. The highlight of my week is watching our awesome kids skip up to the front of assembly with beaming smiles to receive their student awards. Well, actually, you know they don’t all do that but you get the idea.
My eyes have welled up many a time listening to the podcast and I’ve driven home from work in tears out of concern for the pea shoots in my class. In contrast, tonight my Miss 11 was pleading with me to concentrate on the road when we were laugh-crying listening to a particularly funny speak pipe story (Snap Pea #27 is absolute gold, and it was the second very funny story we were listening to) and I bear witness to some of the most hilarious happenings in my classroom.
I have a front row seat to the challenges Peas face, especially after remote learning and the debacle that was 2020. Thanks to Mandy and Kate and each of the amazing guests they’ve interviewed, I see you. I see your exhaustion. I see your fears. But mostly, I see your love. And I want all the Peas to know that there are Peachers and Peafessionals out there that have a whole lot of love for your precious kids too.”
