Description
In 2003, Carlton Dotson was a player on the Baylor University basketball team when he shot and killed his friend and teammate Patrick Dennehy. Carlton claimed that he was hearing voices, was the son of God, and had knowledge of who would and who would not get into heaven. He also claimed that Patrick was about to harm him so he had to kill him. Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss Carlton Dotson and the murder of Patrick Dennehy. It is thought to be one of the few, if not the only, instance of a college athlete murdering a fellow teammate. Carlton appeared to be battling some type of serious mental illness. But, the resulting investigation uncovered NCAA rules violations, an attempted cover-up by a high-level coach, possible drugs in the program, and some individuals who people believe may have played a role in the murder. This is a case where the motive for the murder seems very murky and may leave you asking the question; why did Carlton Dotson really murder Patrick Dennehy.
