Rosie Batty initially felt that there was no way Luke's father, Greg Anderson, could hurt their son. However, after he started becoming violent and making threats against both of their lives, Rosie knew she needed to take action. She warned authorities of Greg, hoping to save her son's life. Despite this, the courts would not listen until Greg made good on his threats in the middle of a public area, right in broad daylight.
