    Professor Salim Aliyow Ibrow and scholar Sayid Ali Abdi Sheikh of Somalia's Jiiddo community join us to discuss the rich cultural heritage of the Jiiddo people and the ways their distinctive traditions have always been practiced in Somalia.

    The guests also reflect on how cultural heritage is a source of information, inspiration and values passed from generation to generation.

    We speak with Farah Omar, the Secretary General of the Federation of Somali Journalists (FESOJ), about recent challenges regarding press freedom in Somalia. He also talks about how the government and other international organisations, in collaboration with local entities, can enhance the safety and independence of Somali journalists.

    We also hear from Layla Adeed Osman, the Executive Director of the Somali Women Journalists Rights Association (SOWJRA), about how her organisation works to close gender gaps in the media and promote press freedom in Somalia. She also speaks about proactive measures for enhancing the safety and protection of media personnel, especially women journalists.
