A Renaissance master, he felt it was an artist's job to use their knowledge of the natural world to make pictures. Rachel and Jim will break down some of the formal elements of da Vinci's masterpiece and discuss the historical context in which it was created.

Episode 7: The Art World is Bananas
Maurizio Cattelan's artwork that consists of a banana duct taped to a wall was recently eaten by a student in a museum. The piece is titled "Comedian" and was originally exhibited at Art Basel in 2019 to much criticism from the popular press. Rachel and Jim discuss the historical precedents for this artwork, the frustrations we often experience with conceptual art, and that sometimes we just need to go with the joke.
