Good podcast. More serious than Very Bad Wizards, but still entertaining.

I’m interested in the subject matter but the production values are not there. With so many Podcasts out there, I just can’t listen to ones that sound crappy. Get better equipment or learn how to make it sound better. Thank you.

While I think many of Alexa’s stances voiced in episode 107 are destructive and wholly fail to understand or fairly represent disagreement, that alone would not merit a one-star rating for the podcast as a whole. My reason is simpler: It is reprehensible to make a podcast episode without the...Read full review »

And really quant social science research in general.

I feel like Alexa’s opinions are too predictable and seem to represent stereotypical leftist professor speak. Just seems to lack nuance. Anyway, after listening to this show from the very beginning I deleted it from my feed.

Heard about the dude in Blocked & Reported. Just listened to the Aella ep. Underwhelming. For starters, what a contrast between the brilliant, incisive, humble & open-minded Aella, and the muted & bland female co-host, a knee-jerk lefty, who thinks it is perfectly acceptable to shun...Read full review »

I’m here to support Alexa! I think she adds quite a bit to the podcast as a host and potentially a foil to Yoel. The conversations are good faith, honest, and grounded. I do not like beer, though.

I like the show. But for two tenured professors they show a shocking lack of erudition. I just listened to the one titled “Older”, and Yoel and Alexa both said “like” 2, 3 or sometimes even 4 times in a sentence. Every sentence. It is hard to listen to, like they are brainless teenage...Read full review »

Psych & Chill with TPFB for a hour every week with your own beer; and you’ll feel smarter, more grounded and strangely serene. When is the TPFB beer and merchandise store going live?

The show has sadly lost a step since losing Mickey Inzlicht. The hosts are both pleasant enough — the interview episodes can still be interesting — but Yoel too often dresses up the most conventional views of his discipline as "insight." Alexa has a bit more awareness, but is too quick to...Read full review »

I love the early shows w Mickey & Yoel, I also love the new shows with Alexa & Yoel. But, both are quite different in their approach - best to start at show 1 and go thru the whole catalogue. If you’ve ever been interested in Psychology, real research-based Psychology, you need this show...Read full review »

Good conversations on psych/philosophy science, books, movies and music, interviews, and really nice beats.

A wonderfully interesting episode (74) with Paul Bloom, then in the following episode they’re back to focusing on the most boring aspects of psychology: research methods and experimental design :(

I love listening to Yoel, Alexa, and Mickey wrestle with the big issues in the philosophy of science and scientific psychology while they get schockered. This is one of my favorite podcasts.

I should have reviewed the show long ago as I’ve been an avid listener for awhile now. Yoel and Mickey are smart, thoughtful, and easy to listen to. I’ve liked some episodes, but they drop their “open science, replication crisis” skepticism when it comes to certain issues. The recent episode on race was difficult to listen to. The two hosts have been at the forefront of issues around the reproducibility crisis in psychology, and so are in a great position to provide insights in a relaxed show that still manages to provide lucid explanations of the issues being discussed. Plus, you know, beers!

I was one of those over-loyal VBW fans. Groomed to dismiss 4 Beers from the beginning. I’d listen to the 4 Beers podcast here and there just to confirm my bias. But now they’ve sucked me in and I never miss an episode. Great discussions, great guests.

As a former student in Yoel’s social psychology course and Mickey’s psychology of self-control class, it’s very refreshing to hear their blunt opinions without the restrictions of a class setting.
