Where are you now, I miss new episodes!

This was one of the very first podcasts I listened to with any regularity. Consistently interesting guests and topical. Eric was a work in progress and fairly candid about his struggles with alcohol and efforts to be a better version of himself. Didn’t agree with his opinions or reactivity at...Read full review »

This was always a good go to podcast for runs when I just wanted to listen to something but for some reason it seems to have died and went inactive. If it’s done fine but why leave us hanging with no goodbye?
southernhick via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/21/22
One of best podcasts in the sport of ultrarunning. Eric is open minded, curious and doesn’t just parrot leftist talking points-therefore he has some obligatory negative reviews from mob. Provides very genuine conversations ...can’t wait for more to come out!

Racist and Transphobic podcast, here is another example,” Stephanie says: October 22, 2021 at 2:37 pm Re: WNBA. You’d think that a few people from the BLM movement or Women’s March crowd would come out and support. But it appears those groups are just a facade. Also, it sounds like a lot of the...Read full review »

I was excited to start listening to an ultra podcast, wasn’t loving the way the host belittled the person he was interviewing, then things took a turn into blatant transphobia. Couldn’t finish my first episode. Disappointed to find this one was not for me.

Eric is extraordinarily judgmental. He presents himself as being much more interested in his own opinions than what his guests have to say. I enjoyed the show in earlier years, but he was mediated by having someone with more running experience and I could handle that back and forth between the...Read full review »

In depth interviewer that has a good understanding of the sport. Really speaks honestly and all around good guy.

AVOID. Used to love this podcast until Eric showed his true colors. His transphobia and bigotry are prevalent in his daily news but when he’s called out he hides behind the “Libertarian just trying to hear both sides”. The side he always falls on ends up with him parroting alt-right talking...Read full review »

I’ve been meaning to write a review ever since I started listening to the URP over a year ago. More to personally thank Eric for sticking with it, to offer a bit of encouragement, and to dilute any negativity that may be directed in the URP direction. This podcast is awesome and I enjoy...Read full review »

Thank you for filling my long runs with fantastic interviews. I am coming up on my 1 year anniversary of my first Ultra and I love heading out for my long run with you in my ears

I used to really enjoy this podcast, but over the years Eric has really revealed a lack of self-reflection and self-awareness. His response and justification for “keeping politics out of sports” was outrageous. Sickening. He interrupts guests, he complains, and he drowns out others’ experiences...Read full review »

But after reading Eric’s response to Ben Chan regarding Black Lives Matter and wanting to keep “political and controversial social topics out of running” I can’t in good conscience listen anymore. In 2020 there should be nothing controversial or political about racial equality. Black lives...Read full review »

My favorite ultra running podcast. Eric is highly knowledgeable and a deeply rooted part of this community which gives him the ability to control the conversation. I used to dislike this about Eric but then I realized him taking control of the conversation was him doing his job this podcast...Read full review »

I have been listening to Eric’s podcast for years now since I got into trail and ultra running. Every show makes me think, teaches me something and introduces me to an interesting and often inspiring guest. There are many options of podcasts in this genre but this is one of the must downloads...Read full review »

I’ve been at this crazy sport for 12 years but recently picked up this podcast, which kept me company during my UTMB training. I love the voices and perspectives. There is also some serious gold and good advice here. Only wish I’d found it sooner!

I am not an ultra runner, just a casual runner, but the stories of the people he interviews always motivates and inspires me in my own life. I like how he tends to interview people with good stories rather than elites all the time.

Sometimes it sounds more like therapy for him than an actual attempt at interviewing people. He finds good guests and he’s sometimes fun to listen to, but there’s just too much that’s annoying for me to continue listening.
NicolasAJD via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 08/07/19
Fun interviews, interesting topics and a deep dive into what makes ultrarunners such interesting people. Thanks for telling the stories of our community, Eric!

I’ve been listening to Ultrarunner Podcast years for two or three years, and feel like i have total listener loyalty by this point. I listen to each episode as soon as they are released. Eric does a wonderful job with a wide variety of guests. He elicits the tips and tricks from elites and novices. Always seeks to find out “what did you learn?” from failures and successes.

Eric brings in a variety of people from the ultra running community and does a great job interviewing them. His questions are insightful and include info about their running and their life history. I always enjoy listening because I know I’ll get a great story from the Ultrarunning community.

URP is great. It's one of the best out there. Eric and Sarah (and whomever they bring on) do a great job of going past typical race reports and talking about motivations, beer (even NA versions), and our "silly sport."Read full review »

I did my first marathon (aged 48) 2 years ago and my first ultra last year. A lot of what I learned was picked up from this podcast. Even (or maybe, especially) if you’re not an ultrarunner, this is a phenomenal podcast. The interviews are well-researched and dynamic, and cover the gamut of topics (not just ultrarunning, though that’s obviously the focus). If you need an episode to get started, I would suggest “Mike...Read full review »
