Dramatic and Engaging Civil War Narrative
Podcast uses actual descendants of civil war figures to tell the stories. First episode talks about a Union raid up the Combahee River, pronounced Cumbee by locals, near Beaufort, South Carolina. Union forces had captured nearby Port Royal in 1861. Harriet Tubman and self-emancipated Shedrick Manego (Pa Shed), participated in the successful raid led by Col. James Montgomery. Great storytelling that includes the perspective of voices that rarely get heard in Civil War narratives -- African soldiers, spies, and civilians.

I love this podcast so far. Being witness to these previously little known or unknown tales, through the lens of history’s participants’ ancestors, is an honor and a privilege. My only wish is that the episodes were longer- but that’s a compliment, not a critique! I just want more Uncivil!

Way overproduced. Just tell the story. This is not a podcast for the whole family.
