“Here’s a more concise version:
Usually, your episodes (covering cases we’ve all heard about) are wrapped up in 10-15 minutes. But the first time you go for a 45-minute deep dive… it’s a letdown. Instead of a great case breakdown, we got 45 minutes of what felt like Andre the Giant mumbling through AM radio.
It’s the same reason I unsubscribed from The Vanished and other true crime podcasts—we can tell when it’s phoned in!
About that Eric interview:
1. You gave Eric total control, and he ran with it—straight into mumble territory. The mic quality was rough, and his voice droned on in a way that wasn’t quite soothing, more like a mosquito buzzing in my ear. It was hard to stay tuned, let alone make it to the end.
2. Was this edited at all? Did anyone review what would be worth saying before recording? You’re in charge, and sometimes it’s best to rein it in or, if need be, move on. Not every voice is right for the episode.
Obviously, with all that said —I didn’t last past 4-5 minutes with “Eric the Mumbler,” and that was just while scrolling to queue up the next show. That said, you’ve had some unique cases that make me want to give you another shot. You’ve got something special here—don’t get lost copying others.
Unsolicited Advice: Find someone to bounce things off. Not a full-time co-host—more like a “Baba Booey.” Just someone to chime in when needed and keep things lively while you stay the star 💫
Alright, you’ve got a month or two to turn things around. I’ll be back to check in!
