✨BONUS EPISODE! For those of you who had already expressed sadness that Season 2 of the Unspoken Podcast wrapped up last week, we have a special treat for you! We're releasing a beautiful conversation with someone who has been a driving force for change and impact in our city of Nashville.

We are deeply honored to be sharing our guest with you today — Patrick Woodyard.  Patrick is the Co-Founder & CEO of Nisolo. His experience using business as a force for good has led him across the globe ranging from Kenya and Uganda to Argentina and Peru. While working for a micro-finance firm in Trujillo, Peru, Patrick was introduced to the broken Peruvian footwear industry made up of over 100,000 shoemakers who possess remarkable talent yet lack access to consistent work, fair-wages, and brand access to established international markets.

Having had extensive exposure to such potential juxtaposed with a lack of access in other developing countries, Patrick created Nisolo with the vision to push the fashion industry in a new direction by serving as one of the first fashion brands to deliver a superior yet ethically-produced product to consumers.

This conversation is especially meaningful and special because Patrick’s heart is so expansive and his mind is truly remarkable. Not only was this conversation impactful, but also our first ever LIVE recording we’ve done on the podcast. Truly, it was such a huge gift to have so many friends and family from Nashville gather at the Nisolo Showroom and share a sacred space for us. Nisolo has been such an advocate of Season 2 of the Unspoken Podcast - and so it is a huge honor to be able to reveal more about the heart behind this company to our listeners, with Patrick’s personal story as a driving force for the overarching narrative. Listen to this episode wherever you get your podcasts!

Beautiful

This is such a soothing podcast and very helpful in helping us honor our pain and to also see the light that our pain can provide for us. Such beautiful people. Thank you for your message and your healing ways of how you touch and care for so many!

Gabriella Mcgough ,

Hi I’m Gabriella.

I never had pain like Ruthie Lindsey.
I have divorced parents.
I’m shy and introverted. I am adopted from Guatemala. I don’t know what her experience is like or any others on. I have a mom and she had hip surgery. She is a divorced. I have a cat and she is in my brothers room. I’m a little jealous.
I am a cheerleading. I go to Summit trail in Washington. I don’t come from the south.
I know my dads mom was very sick and there was a change. My dad told me. I am not a celebrity at all. I come from Maple valley Washington. I’m not a fan of any spicy food. I’m 13 years old. I live in my room. I never get out. I do have anxiety. I don’t like going to the store very much. I don’t like going to the grocery store with my mom. I struggle with that. I don’t have a close relationship with my mom like other people do. I do love her. Me and my mom were going through my adoption paper work. My moms name is Victoria Choc. She was very poor. She worked with tortillas. She and me are from Cuban Guatemala. I learned she had two other daughters with two different men. My mom said it was hard for her. She decided to give me up for adoption because she had no money. It was hard for her. I knew she was holding me and that she was my birth mom. I have a picture of my birth mom. She looks like me. I don’t know my birth dad. Never said on my birth adoption paper. She did not speak Spanish. She spoke a different language. She did not know how to read or write. My mommy told me that was very selfless of her! I don’t go to the grocery store with her is because she is drinking. I was praying in my room. I said to God that I have anxiety about drugs and alcohol.
My brother went to rehab last year. I don’t trust anyone with drugs and alcohol. Because I was born with a mom who fought that as well. Especially in Guatemala. In my adoption papers it said my mom was having a hard time so she adopted me. She asked for people to help me. She knew a lot of people would be there for me in that time of giving birth to me. She had lots of anxiety around people who were drugged up because they were trying to hurt people. That’s why I have anxiety. My mom came in my dream and she was holding my hand! She was an angel! She is gone. I do love her very much. Mommy is going to be ok! No one ever talks about hurting people when they are drugged up. My mom didn’t know many people who had that intense anxiety around them. I said to God I would protect young children in a store! Because they were trying to hurt them physically and emotionally and high. I’m not joking my mother was an angel in my dream! I love 😁🥲🥲everyone. 😁😁😁thank you! I support the army! 😁😁😁😁😁😄😄😄😄😁I love when an army filled with strong women and men can give the homeless flowers and chocolate! A nice coat! Even a cake!😁😁😁😁😁😁😁🤣😉Thank you!

Human

In the midst of uncertainty of life, intensified by the pandemic called Covid-19 I feel that I’m becoming more human. Ruthie and Miles, thank you from the bottom of my heart for graciously taking my hand as we talk about hard things and point to the beauty of humanity. I feel a sense of hope for us humans as a whole as a result of the vulnerability, honestly and plain ol fun that this podcast so skillfully displays and articulates. You two are truly a gift. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for inviting us into a sacred space of love and belonging.
