Needs a heavy dose of editing... like 1.5 hours cut out.
The "Ian from Chicago" review of November 8, 2010 really hit the nail on the head. "The sections of show where baseball is discussed is very enjoyable. The sections where the hosts don't display any expertise (all other topics discussed) are not." I have tried valiantly to listen to these podcasts. I am giving up and deleting my podcast subscription. This **COULD** be an excellent podcast if these two guys would shorten the podcast to 30 minutes and stick primarily but better yet, exclusively, to baseball. They clearly have baseball insights you won't hear in mainstream media. But having to listen to 2 HOURS of long, tortuous (and not in the SF Giant sense), nonsensical, meandering, and frankly very boring side discussions to get maybe 10 minutes of baseball is too much for me. For example, in Episode 24, the first episode after the World Series, it took to the 31:30 mark for these two guys to even mention baseball. Arghh. I am frankly shocked that Baseball Prospectus puts their stamp of approval on such a poorly produced and rambling show. Shorten it and stick to baseball. Only then would it be worth listening. For a baseball fan without the blather, go listen to the FanGraphs podcast instead.

No other baseball podcast could run over two hours without becoming tedious. Using only fresh ingredients, Goldstein and Parks blend baseball insight with interesting observations on whatever they monkey-fighting* please. They can speak knowledgeably about Jeff Francis or Francis Bacon, and...Read full review »

The sections of the show where baseball is discussed is very enjoyable. The sections on subjects where the hosts don't display any expertise (all other topics discussed) are not. Instead one hears a lot of pretentious words (eg "reductive") masking any real careful study, as evidenced by...Read full review »
