The Perfect Podcast to Wake Up To
I love waking up to a new episode of this podcast every weekday morning. As someone who likes to stay informed but whose career involves social media and constantly being online, I can no longer bring myself to wade through all of the noise and yelling to pinpoint exactly what’s most important for me to know (and to learn it). The hosts of Up First are incredibly knowledgeable and thorough, even in the 12-14 minutes they have every morning. They’re also entertaining and engaging to listen to, not to mention the fact that their rapport makes you feel like you’re in the room with them. (I especially love the outtakes included sometimes because it can’t be easy recording something like this so early in the morning. Those always make me chuckle.) This podcast tries to choose diverse stories when it can and when it has the space to do so. It also brings on other SME reporters to fill in gaps and go into greater detail. This podcast gives me the tools and current world context I need to face the day ahead. I’m so thankful to have found Up First and look forward to listening every weekday morning for years to come.

Believe me, I LOVE the hosts, but being chatty and morning show-y about chemical weapon use on children seemed a bit off, tone-wise. I'm sure they'll get it together, but for now, The Daily from NYT is a much better listen.Read full review »
