A series of short vocal warm-ups and workouts for singers who want to exercise their voice. These can be your daily drills or you may want to dip in and out when your voice needs a bit of a workout.
As well as the vocal warm-ups, there will also be specific exercises such as articulation, dynamics, vocal placement, breath control, connecting breath with sound etc.
I always recommend that you have at least a few lessons with a singing teacher to ensure your technique is sound. A qualified singing teacher will give you advice on which exercises are best for your voice.

Episode 7 - Building Resonance
Finding and building resonance is incredibly important in singing and speaking.
We really can shape our tone and build power without doing any damage to the vocal folds or having to 'push' too hard.
If you want to read more about resonance, check out this great article - https://www.voicescienceworks.org/resonance.html
We do 4 different exercises in this episode...
1. Mmmmmmm-ahhhhhh, mmmmmmm-aaaaayyyyyyyy, mmmmmm-eeeeeeee (harder to write than sing)
2. Yawn to access our lower notes
3. Bee, bee, bee focusing on the strong buh of the B sound
4. Nyah - like the sound new but with an ahh on the end.
Hope you enjoy.

Episode 4 - Vocal Workout: Articulation & Tongue Tension
Welcome back!
In this 10 minute episode, we really give your tongue a good workout.
We start with the 5 note scale humming, whilst making a chewing motion with your mouth.
We then do a fantastic tongue workout routine that will really help you reach your goals with articulation as well as helping you to release some of that tongue tension, which can be very problematic.
Then we look at the following exercise: The Tip of the Tongue and the Lips and the Teeth
It's certainly a mouthful, but that's the point.
Thanks for tuning in. Enjoy

Wow! Fixed me!
I am so grateful to have found this podcast! Thank you, Mr. Valker! I had sung a great deal up through my early 30s - madrigal groups, choruses, church, professional solos occasionally, class voice, voice lessons, musical solos for performances or leading church services early on (not always perfectly, but always enthusiastically). But life happened, and I stopped singing, as I focused on other pursuits (mostly dancing, choreographing, teaching, and digital design). I lost my singing voice somewhere by my late 40s, and attributed it to asthma or some vocal issue - even had a throat procedure done this year to see what was wrong in there (nothing)! It didn’t help that my voice had also grown from a Tenor I in high school, to Tenor II in my 20s, then baritone and then bass (maybe).
That crack in my voice turned into a canyon, and I really could barely carry a tune by my early 60s (I’m 65 now, still dancing and teaching and designing). Occasionally doing the scales do not help much since I don’t really apply them.
Lo and behold, following the first podcast exercises, I “watched” that canyon disappear, and after that one episode, I am singing in a real, loud, full-voiced, confident way, that I have not done in 15 years. Maybe not ready yet for the stage, but it’s so nice to hear and feel that again!
What an easy quick fix already! Thank you, thank you! What a wonderful day you have made here in our house on New Years Day, 2022.
I can’t wait to see what’s in store with future episodes, but I will be continuing to apply episode one’s lessons!

One of my favorites!
I use these warm ups pretty much every day. Thank you for putting together such great short, well explained warm up.
Perfect, bite-sized vocal exercises
What Mr. Valks offers here is exactly what I was looking for: “real”, yet approachable, vocal exercises that I can do in the car and improve my singing voice (strength, accuracy, stamina, range, etc). Very helpful stuff!
