Excellent true crime drama. Riveting! I wish the kangaroo court in France had not convicted him based on emotions and rhetoric. I hope a breakthrough in this case happens one day for all parties involved. Especially Sophie.

A well crafted retelling of a horrendous event, the main protaganist comes across badly, the Garda hardly come out of this smelling of roses, and at the tail end of the frenzy it seems as if the victim of this crime is being left out. To play devils advocate, get irrefutable proof of the...Read full review »

Just lost interest- the accents are awful- the suspect and his woman look exactly like you imagine

Some thoughts. A poet would be a super observant person. His diaries suggest he was not one to miss things. However, an attractive mysterious, independent, French woman lives in the same, small village, and he’s never met her and never seen her… He’s a writer, a journalist, and a charmer, and...Read full review »

Just brilliant. West Cork has the best sound design I’ve heard in any podcast. Wonderfully written and reported. So many podcasts in this genre feel exhibitionist, but Jennifer and Sam seem completely earnest in trying to understand what happened. They do a beautiful job of honoring Sophie’s...Read full review »

Please could we have another series of this superbly atmospheric podcast? It’s such a haunting story and it seems so much has happened since- I’d love to have an update.

Captivating, well told murder mystery, but even more fascinating case study on sociopathy and domestic violence dynamics. If you work in mental health or the justice system, definitely worth a long, close listen.

Definitely a podcast I wish I could go back and listen to for the first time all over again! Love, love, love!

A woven tapestry of human behavior surrounding a most dreadful crime. Karmic ties run very deep here. Marvelous storytelling.#justice for Sophie

Way better than that Netflix crap.

This podcast feels like a labor of love for those involved in the writing, production, narration, music sound quality. Thank you! The very few critical reviews read biased, and simply off the mark.

Very well researched and put together. Engaging and interesting right to the end. Once you’ve listened to all of the episodes, go to Laura Richards’ Crime Analyst podcast for an in depth analysis of the crime, the victim and the suspects.

These journalists have done a wonderful job…well researched and produced and so thoughtful. I feel so badly for Sophie’s family, particularly her son and parents…a beautiful young woman who was taken in such a horrific and undeserving way. I also feel terribly for Ian Bailey, while I agree he is...Read full review »

If Ireland can not provide Justice for Sophie Toscan du Plantier, at minimum we should remember that SHE is the important part of this case. Really appreciated the community members who try to keep the victim in the foreground. Several deeply troubled personalities collided in wake of Sophie’s...Read full review »

What bad luck — if you were to be murdered, you could only hope you were not French, had vacationed in West Cork, be beaten to death and your case left in the hands of the Keystone-like cops in a small town in Ireland whose inhabitants read like an 18th century farce. But fate cannot be undone....Read full review »

The way the story is told has you changing your mind over his guilt on every episode,it just goes to show how easily persuaded we all are without even realising it.

Hard to write it in to a context of the podcast being a great series. But it is. Obviously, my heart goes out to Sophie and her family and I wish she and they didn’t experience this. It being what it is, the podcast did enlighten me to facts, suggestions that either, the Netflix or the Sky...Read full review »

I mean, a hands down 5 star podcast. Brilliant storytelling, narration, and beyond perfect sound design. An absolutely phenomenal example of what an investigative podcast should be.

When talking about the alleged murder suspect, Ian Bailey, and his frequent calls to “backseat direct” their podcast. They state his calls could sometimes be annoying but sometimes easier to go with it. Easier to go with it?? Why are you appeasing someone directly linked to the story and who...Read full review »

After listening to the podcast, I had to go search for the series on Netflix just to rap my head around what had happened to the victim and her family 🙁 I must say, the Garda did a fantastic investigation and work with evidence. Amazing podcast 👍

Superb, brilliantly reported, balanced, sensitive, humane, and both thought-provoking and quite touching.

Ian Bailey, while a strange and unlikeable character, is innocent. The police suffered from biased tunnel vision and the true murderer is unknown. This podcast is much better than the rubbish Netflix docu-series.

In 1996, 20 women were brutally murdered in the Republic; three of these women were killed in December of 1996 — Sophie Buoniol, Geraldine Diver and Belinda Pereira. The murders of these women, and 2 others killed in 1996, remain unsolved. In the 25 years since Sophie, Geraldine and Belinda were...Read full review »

This is a fabulous podcast! Had me from the beginning.. have no doubt of Ian Baileys guilt and his delusional partner, Jules needs to get some serious help. The Netflix doco is very good also.. this podcast had way more backbone. Well done!

A well done podcast that I enjoyed - to a point. Despite being about the tragic murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier, she almost immediately becomes a footnote in this story.
