Well researched and respectfully made
These journalists have done a wonderful job…well researched and produced and so thoughtful. I feel so badly for Sophie’s family, particularly her son and parents…a beautiful young woman who was taken in such a horrific and undeserving way. I also feel terribly for Ian Bailey, while I agree he is definitely eccentric, over the top after a few drinks, and clearly hasn’t done himself any favours with regards to his dry, caustic humour, this is an innocent man, wrongly accused of taking a woman’s life. The police were useless, out of their depth and eager to show the world they had done their job when in reality the real killer is still out there and they (the police) have essentially ruined this man’s life and been unable to give Sophie’s family any closure. Sophie’s family have spent over 20 years being told that Ian is the killer that they are completely unwilling to look at the hard facts as to why it can’t be him, meanwhile, the real killer, is more than likely walking the streets a free man. The people in Cork have shown themselves to be cliche, small town folk that get caught up in gossip and judgement and have essentially contributed to completely ruining a man’s life.

What an intriguing set of events. Beautifully and sensitively told. In the very saturated True Crime genre this podcast stands out in terms of journalistic quality and production values. Highly recommended.
