I came across this show when I was searching for Tim Minchin podcast interviews. I am very surprised this has never shown up in my recommended podcasts. Good guests, good interviews. Well worth listening too.

I love the variety of guests Josh has on who are really interesting. I highly recommend everyone to take a listen to the Podcast - you will not be disappointed.

I appreciate the questions and it’s good to bring a different perspective but it’s really annoying when he talks over the guest and steamrolls them. It disrupts the flow of conversation and I wish he’d just let them finish their thought before he interjects and then changes the topic. It’s a...Read full review »

but not sure how Josh manages to fit his massive ego into the recording studio.

The only uncomfortable conversation you will hear if you have a functioning brain that is not polluted by most woke agenda, maybe every 10th show is somewhat not dogmatic, but overall total garbage.

I’m so relieved that I discovered Josh and this podcast. He takes an open-minded and reasonable approach to so many interesting topics, but most importantly he’s not afraid to ask the confronting questions that need to be asked. Since social media there has been a terrible change in society...Read full review »

He talks over his guests and is oppositional for the sake of it.

Interesting topics and guests but the host continually interrupting as the guests are talking is annoying and disruptive. I held on for a full hour and just when they were really getting to the point of the piece but it abruptly stopped. You have to pay to listen to the whole thing on a website. ...Read full review »

Amazing interviews and topics but the host, Josh, constantly talks over guests - makes it hard to listen to.

Genuinely thought provoking while being honest, well rounded and considerate. A great example of what is missing in mainstream journalism and what we consume in the media. The conversation about Israel and Palestine was outstanding and a must listen for anyone who thinks they understand the...Read full review »

Brilliant, such a brave person!

I truely believe Josh is doing something special. The ABC has become so tiresome and tone deaf and the right wing stuff is often tribal, shallow or behind a paywall. There is no need to get cranky when Josh describes disagreeable ideas because alternatives are given voice and have to stand on...Read full review »

I’m new to this show and have to say I have gone back and listened to so many of the older episodes, what a joy of a find.

Definitely a podcast for people with to much time on their hands who did live in the real world...

Josh is easy to listen too an experienced interviewer. I am not agree with all his views but I like being challenged and he does this well.

Just when I was lamenting that no one even pretends to be open-minded anymore, along comes Josh Szeps who actually is. So refreshing to be stimulated by genuine debate and sincere exploration of contrary viewpoints. Ditch the algorithm, exit the echo chamber and breath the fresh air.

In this landscape of social and political minefields with thousands of voices competing for attention, we need to find those few that hit a perfect balance of unbiased but hard hitting, fearless commentary on often uncomfortable topics. Josh is one of those voices. Highly recommended!!!

If you value honest conversations this one is for you. If you desire something that will enforce your predetermined opinions - perhaps you will enjoy something else more.

A masterfully subtle plug on Sam Harris’ podcast led me here. Glad I found this thanks for the great content team Josh

Love the podcast!!! but… please fix the sound quality! The Panel episode was particularly terrible.

I’m a huge Sam Harris fan and was totally uptodate with his Making Sense podcast and found this when looking for something equally engaging but closer to home (Australia) and I absolutely love his perspective and how he tackles an issue.

Usually Josh reins in his far left bias which makes for interesting conversations. But his bias and narrow minded views on colonialism during the Nigel Biggar interview was extremely disappointing and a real turn off. It seems you can take the boy out of the ABC but not the ABC bias out of the boy!

One of my favorite podcasts. In a sea of outrage media, UC is a welcome vessel to help navigate the thorny issues facing the world. Josh is highly intelligent and witty, and although he certainly has a healthy ego, it manifests in confidence not boorishness. He will deftly feign ignorance on a...Read full review »

I’m not a fan of this podcast-I think the host needs to take some history lessons.

I know this will fall on deaf ears because your Gaza episode betrays your bias. I found your attitude and arguments disgraceful and borderline racist. Enjoy your life on Sky News as just another performer and not a thinker.

While I think Josh had a lot of really good, solid moments on this podcast, I think he simply can’t get away from the fact that he is in fact, a leftist. Every time he hosts a progressive on his show, he crumbles like a cookie, always failing to push back on the assertion that nothing is...Read full review »

There is quite a long list of Jews VERY against Israel’s actions and policies. How is it their take is so much heavier than yours? A very shallow and biased analysis of a very complicated situation. Unfortunate that the pod caster didn’t invest more time in researching the topic and cherry picked the articles he aligned with more.

All good thoughts… except for the damaging and demoralising conflation of the colonial/imperial projects of the west over the last 500 years. The Spanish conquest was nothing like Britain’s Victorian empire. The latter brought peace, medicine, education, law, trade, technology. If people stopped...Read full review »

Josh’s clear and precise thought process, fact checking and way to articulate is head and shoulders above. And sorely needed in today’s crazy, opinionated media sphere! Second time listening, episode 173 (I think?) 15 min 40 sec in. Sounded off, so I fact checked it. Can only assume the rest of the show follows the same partisan...Read full review »

After listening to one episode of Josh I knew his podcast would be worth supporting and it hasn’t dissapointed. Josh is one of the smartest (and funniest) interviewers out there. Leans heterodox, but often pushes back on the inanity of the current culture war moment. Also, the accent is pretty great.
