“The title of the podcasts (What I Did Next) is in itself creative, since this is a program in the making which depicts the way that, in Egypt, a rather large bilingual and often trilingual layer of society still lives and thrives. In the first half of the twentieth century Egypt was known to be a most cosmopolitan country, where people interacted freely and where there were hardly any barriers to communication. There are large spaces in our genes. Your podcasts mostly consist in interviewing individuals whose lives are focused on creative activities in every aspect of living. on the other hand, Egyptian TV is not lacking in interviews introducing diverse personalities to the arabic speaking majority of this country and discovering your “What I did next” podcasts filled me with wonder, precisely because they showcase successful Egyptians who are perfectly bilingual and bi-cultural, and worthy pontifexes of the modern world, thus disclosing to the international community the social resilience that we know so well because the Egyptian people learned English under British rule, Russian when Russian was preponderant in this country, Greek and Italian and French when they had large communities and businesses thriving in the land of the Pharaohs. The host whom you are, Malak Fouad, is self-contained but enthusiastic, your English diction is flawless, your questions well-targeted. Your gallery of personas is of course carefully sketched out. They are selected among the most successful entrepreneurs, but also the wittiest and most articulate and you guide them to provide a clear idea about the maze in which life drives us all unawares. This is a eupeptic approach to people and their lives. I think everyone should hear the podcasts, they will love them!
