Could be an amazing course... But Isn't this all moot?
In third grade I learned very well not to judge a book by its cover and therefore I will preface this by saying what I'm talking about here's only re: what I read in the description and I recognize the course could be about something very fulfilling and worthwhile. As far as the course description goes I have to wonder if it's worth signing up aside from the fact that it could be something I don't expect: If happiness is like beauty or a person's unique taste for food or entertainment in that the definition is different for every single person and only we can decide what happiness is for ourselves (just like only we know what is beautiful to our eyes for example), what can anyone teach us about what only we can know is true for ourselves? The description of this coarse talks about the centuries long debate and consideration by great thinkers and others about what the definition of happiness is & points out that no one has come to a definition (yet!) that we can all agree on ...which the exactly the point. The idea that these great thinkers or anyone else for that matter has spent any significant period of time during their one precious life trying to figure out what no one ever will in such a way that we don't have the right to, well, it depresses me because no one's going to get back that time spent pondering and debating over a moot point and that's a sad way to spend the only time that we have. Of course maybe something wonderful after life, but that's another conversation.
