“Usually with film podcasts, I listen only to ones on films I’ve seen. Well, since I discovered this podcast a month ago, I’ve now listened to all forty of them, and I’m bereft that there’s no more. The conceit is that one of the two hosts tells the other their research, interspersed with their commentary having just watched (or re-watched) the film in question. Admittedly this breaks down a little when they bring on guests, because as a non-American I have difficulty distinguishing between 2-4 male American voices. However, my curiosity about the facts and the chronological replays overrode this quibble. Both Lizzie and Chris appear to have a background in the film industry, which gives them a casual authority on certain subjects and also an approach the details an outsider might lack. I was most interested/perturbed by the fact that many big productions turn to an Evangelical Christian media company to pimp their product out to this ‘hard-to-reach’ audience. WILD. Lastly - I may be going mad, but I’m sure the hosts refer to an episode on ‘The Island of Dr Moreau’, which I cannot find anywhere on any podcast server, so I suspect I dreamed it. Hopefully the podcast will someday return and cover this film, which I am 100% not going to watch. Thanks for giving me an entertaining commute!”
