#3 Dairy farmer
Listen now
Description
Have you ever thought about what's involved to get milk from cow to coffee? This week Lynsey talks to Mary Selby (formerly Mary Ankers) who took over her family's dairy farm after her Dad actively encouraged her not to. After University Mary became a qualified Rural Surveyor and started out a career in supporting other farmers in helping them build, grow and sustain their farms. This gave her an insight in to how it could be done and so she decided to take this learning back to her family farm with plans for increasing profitability as well as helping others in the industry. Mary has now featured in The Times, The Guardian and other farming publications, sharing her expertise in the area. Mary shares her career journey and explains that although she calls her self a Dairy Farmer, she is in fact much more than that.
