Episode 192: VPC Watches with Thomas
This week's episode Spence has the opportunity to speak with Fratello writer, and watch brand founder, Thomas Van Straaten to talk about his passion project, VPC watches.
It has been a minute since we have had a brand owner on the show, but having spent some time with the VPC Type 37 HW you will see that it has left us thoroughly impressed. Thomas's eye for detail, including developing a unique typeface for the 37 HW, leads to a watch that punches well above its weight and is more than just a spec sheet watch.
Overall, the fit, finishing, and detail of the Type 37 HW make the wearing experience superb. It is one of those watches that you only pick up these details having worn it. It was a pleasure getting to know Thomas better. If you have a chance, find a way to check out the Type 37 HW, you will not be disappointed! -
Episode 191: The MOST UNDERAPPRECIATED Watch Brand
This week Spence and Buzz are trying to do our topic justice. It takes a minute, but we do finally discuss one brand in particular that we think is significantly underrated. Enjoy!
-
Episode 190: ROLEX SODA WARS
Well, Spence and Spangler talk some predictions from the crown as well as some SEASONAL stuff from GS. Enjoy!
-
Episode 189: Hot Streak
Despite not publishing an episode for a couple of weeks, we have the nerve to discuss streaks! Namely, which brand has been on a bit of a tear as of late.

Episode 188: Stock and Awe
In this week's episode Spence, Spangler, and Buzz are joined by our friend Mike Stockton from Fratello watches! We talk about what the future of Universal Geneve under Breitling ownership might look like. We also each build a watch (Spangler's idea) based on components of existing timepieces. A sort of everyman's Moser Swiss Legend concept. Enjoy!

Episode 187: The Worst Watch In the World (All Things Considered, Sort Of)
This episode we riff on the concept of the worst watch in the world. We do this in the vein of the old Top Gear, and the answer(s) may surprise you. We even consider a Rolex making the cut! Enjoy!

Fun
Great fun and entertaining!
The tangents 🙄
I want to learn more about watches and these gentlemen have some great hands-on detail and mention many considerations (such as dimensions, materials, finishing of certain components, aesthetics, etc.) of wearing a watch on a day-to-day basis, but one of these hosts goes on unrelated rants that literally kills time with very little practicality or advice from his side-stories. This makes the whole thing feel a little less professional and it’s as if some hobbyists are sitting around talking, eventually getting to watches. I don’t know if they’re trying to squeeze out time to fulfill some episode length requirement, but it feels drawn out with the non-watch tangents.
Love these guys!
Definitely have been enjoying you guys for months now. Great chemistry with whoever is on each week. Good topics, love fresh forum finds and drink check and wrist checks are always fun. Only thing to improve upon is better audio. It’s a podcast so I’d hope some new mics are used at some point to make this even more enjoyable!
