Extensive recaps at the start of each episode not required
BBC Radio still doesn't quite get podcasts and has a habit of rushing them out without much thought going into the podcast production. I know BBC radio producers who confess the podcast side of things is last on their lists which is why BBC podcasts tend to have a rushed feel. This is an interesting show, albeit inferior to LBC's What Happened to Vishal? but the Beeb are putting these out almost as 'Listen Again' versions of the shows that went out on Radio 4. The extensive recaps at the start of each episode are not needed. Podcast listeners will have heard the previous episode. We just want to get on with the next episode. The recap at the start of episode 2 lasts almost ten minutes, half the show! Also the scripted exchanges between Mair and the journalist are very stilted and undermine what should be a good show with the purpose of hopefully resolving this tragic case.Read full review »
