Generally Enjoy ... but ...
One of my favourite wine podcast series. But as a Canadian, I suggest maybe they preface their reviews with the fact that they really don’t know, or haven’t experienced enough of the Canadian wine scene to comment - a shortcoming I hope they are able to remedy once the borders re-open, and we return to some semblance of “normal”. Niagara in Ontario, and Okanagan in BC, of which they are, at least “aware”, have some amazing wines. Signature varietals in Niagara at the best wineries are Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc and Riesling, with a growing basket of really good Gamay, and in good years, even some really good Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot blends, and Malbec. The best of these are outstanding, and, as always, the worst are worse than mediocre. I am not as familiar with BC, but with 300+ wineries, I am aware of, and have tasted, some great Merlot blends, Syrah, and Chardonnay, Riesling, etc. I hope these hosts are able to do some homework, and come to Canada to taste some of the best of the best. I am betting their tone on “Canadian wines” will change dramatically if they do.
