Description
Interview with Jane Wiedlin about the Go-Go's New Song Club Zero & Showtime Documentary As the first multi-platinum-selling, all-female band to play their own instruments, write their own songs, and soar to Number 1 on the album charts, the Go-Go’s are the most successful female rock band of all times. Band member Jane Wiedlin has been there since the beginning, writing many of their songs and playing guitar. Jane joins us today to talk about the Go-Go’s, their new documentary on Showtime, and their latest song, Club Zero. First I speak with Jane about our mutual love for Star Trek! Jane talks about how she became a huge fan and what it was like for her to make a brief appearance in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, directed by Leonard Nimoy. Then we flash back to the L.A. punk rock scene in the mid-70s, which became their inspiration as they formed The Go-Go's (without knowing how to play any instruments at first) and toured England with Ska bands Madness and The Specials. Jane talks about their first U.S. tour as the opening band for The Police, and how, during the tour The Go-Go's Beauty and the Beat album hit number 1–surpassing The Police. J ane then talks about how they created their latest song, Club Zero and offers some advice for women out there who want to be successful musicians.
