“CE / BCE” - you still haven’t changed the starting date for the numbering, so renaming BC / AD is just annoying virtue-signalling. Most, but not everything, on the BBC is just as revisionist/PC. Give it a rest, will you?

Such a great podcast!! You learn whilst using humour, and the team find the fun, interesting facts in each topic. I’ve learned so much about things, people and places I have never even heard of eg. Did you know Mozart shacked up with his ex girlfriend and her husband? Or that the Incas were...Read full review »

Wow. The Harriet Tubman one was just so AMAZING that I had knew I had to listen to the Josephine Baker one and was thrilled when it was the same historian (and I think the same comedian) Just brilliant! And then the Black Beard one and just ALLLLLLLLL of the ones I’ve listened to (not nearly...Read full review »

I absolutely love this podcast: it teaches me so much whilst making me cry with laughter (and occasionally in sorrow at some of the content). Greg Jenner

I loved the show on Mozart. Can we have more in the same vein? It was great listening and appreciating the music.

An immensely enjoyable podcast with its broad range of topics, compelling experts and delightful comedians. I eagerly await the next episode.

A charismatic host that makes it fun to learn history. Great choice of history guest and comedians. I always look forward to the end 10 questions !

I have been a dedicated YDTM listener for years now! I look forward to each new season & relish the Friday new episode drops. I am mom to three teens and they tolerate this podcast on our many drives to sporting events. By far my favourite episode is the Eleanor of Aquataine! Love love love...Read full review »

I really love this podcast. It is I think my favorite of all the podcasts I listen to. I am about to listen to the Mozart episode. Can’t wait! I note that this is the 11th episode, with new material, and final episode of this, the 7th season of the podcast. Perhaps I am mistaken, but this...Read full review »

Loved this pod for several years. This ep may be the best yet. Adding the orchestra was amazing. Hearing the music while it was being discussed made it come alive. As an American, I hadn’t had a lot of exposure to David O’Doherty, but he was hilarious while fitting in perfectly to the theme. Wow!

No words - the best podcast out there. I'd pay money for a full version of the title melody played by the orchestra in the Mozart episode 🤌🏻Read full review »

Using humour to teach would be good if it's funny, but here it borders on the inane and even childish on too many occasions. The so-called comedians of the "correct" mix of ethnicity that get on this show are embarrassing. You have expert guests and it's a wasted opportunity. Also...Read full review »

I’ve come to this podcast quite late and have started at the beginning. I’m now into the third year and I’m enjoying it… up to a point. I could really do without the comedians. Very few of them actually add anything and most just keep interrupting the flow of the learning with poor jokes that,...Read full review »

I’ve listened to this podcast for years and used to look forward to each new episode. Last year was a really disappointing season- repeat after repeat after repeat, calling themselves “radio edits”. The 2024 season only started in January and we’re back to repeats already. What’s going on?

I look forward to a new episode each week. I’m pleased to say that I have listened and learnt a lot whilst also being properly entertained. Excellent - thank you.

I happened upon this podcast when searching up more information on Napoleon in his early years and was instantly hooked. Not only does it cover topics I don’t find very common, but it also covers topics that even though are well-known the historians always have new information that you won’t get...Read full review »

Much potential but the podcast degenerates into gibberish and becomes silly

It was excruciating. Amira, the historian, never laughed at Nabil’s jokes. That should have been your clue to edit him out. It was truly offensive, I can only imagine what his shows are like, sexist and coprophiliac. And reading the reviews, it seems you’ve never learned your lesson. Edit: I...Read full review »

History made fascinating and funny in a smart, quickly paced format. Just can’t get enough of it! Have learned so much from this podcast, not the least of which is how narrow the lens I used to view the world. Somehow the comedians who comment on the episodes bring an edge that helps me see the...Read full review »

I love this podcast but can you do a episode on Greek mythology? Also I think it would be fun to have Taylor Tomlinson or someone from Dude Perfect on a show as the comedian?🩵

Episode 1 takes one hour!! Even it’s not interesting!!! Can you pls make new season but not one hour making!!! Otherwise it will be very boring ❗️

Like this for a quirky listen but too often guests can distract from quality. Queen of Sheba guest was foul mouthed and unfunny I had to turn off as too cringey.

Two or three times so far this season the ads have come right in the middle of a sentence. That is unprofessional and unacceptable. I love this podcast and it deserves better. Get it together, producers!

Found the comedian awkward and not funny. Please look for some new comedians that will add to the episode and not dumb it down

I look forward to the release of a new episode EVERY WEEK, I LOVE the content of this show.
