Zapped to the Past is a blast
In a short space of time, Zapped to the Past has become one of my very favourites shows. Released on Mondays, this two hander featuring a couple of old school buddies is a great way to start the week. The title of the show refers to Zzap!64, a monthly mag first published in 1985 that took an irreverent look at the latest releases on the Commodore 64. Each issue is split into two podcasts, with our trusty hosts taking a fresh and equally irreverent look at most if not all of the games reviewed. Whilst the majority of said games don’t stand up to modern day scrutiny (you may be unsurprised to learn), much of the appeal of the show is listening to the boys hilariously rip into innumerable 8-bit duds, with the odd diamond in the rough reminding us what a great machine the C64 could be in the right hands. Their leftfield digressions are just as amusing, while episodes also recall what the world of music, film, TV and world events had to offer in the decade that we all secretly love(d).

There’s two things from my childhood I will always have an affection for, Zzap64 and the...Read full review »
