Rabbi Steven Weil was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces in 2020. He began his career as a pulpit Rabbi, first serving at the Young Israel of Oak Park in Detroit, Michigan and then at Congregation Beth Jacob in Beverly Hills, California. In 2009, he assumed the position of Senior Managing Director of the Orthodox Union, leading their institutional advancement and community engagement efforts. Rabbi Weil joins KOLOT to share his very out-of-the-box upbringing, how he helped start a Lakewood Kollel, his journey to the OU. He shares what his biggest challenge was and what he did to combat it. We discuss how to best prepare for the three weeks and nine days and we then discuss the incredible work at the FIDF.
