“It’s the curse of Polish language teaching that a few usually unqualified people teach foreigners bad habits. Final -ę at the end of words such as ‘imię’ ‘się’ or ‘uczę’ in Polish is not pronounced nasally in normal speech. Unfortunately some untrained teachers insist on teaching foreign learners to pronounce it nasally in the belief that this is somehow more ‘correct’. This is bad teaching practice. It’s like teaching pupils of English to always say ‘is not’ and not teach them ‘isn’t’.”
