Virtue signalling banter
Always love hearing music lovers discuss music but there are a couple of problems with this podcast. One is the lack of research and deeper analysis of the albums/artists, instead settling with “this song sucks/is amazing”. Another is the lack of diversity in music tastes/experiences among the hosts. 98% of the time all agree that an album is terrible/amazing, often pretentiously adding comments like “if you don’t like this you have no ears”. But the biggest fault is the constant woke virtue signalling with comments like “white guys playing the blues hurts my soul” (despite later gushing over Led Zeppelin), “the book only has this Bob Marley album because the British white guys who wrote this book don’t know any other reggae artists” or blaming “the patriarchy” or racism for minutes on end for every female/colored artist who is not quite as successful or critically adored as the podcast hosts would like.

After not working in Apple Podcasts for ages it now does! Some good analysis and related chat for some classic and non classic albums. Just the right length and good interplay between the hosts.

I feel sure that there is *someone* on this podcast who can actually read but they continue to let a kindergarten-level reader try to spell out the texts they cite. It's so painful and embarrassing.Read full review »
