An excellent review of the Byzantine Empire
While I found nothing new or earthshattering in this well-presented series of talks on the Byzantine rulers, I do see this series of podcasts serving one of two important functions. First, it is an excellent introduction to the Byzantine Empire. Looking broadly at the empire through the political history of its rulers allows Brownworth to lay out an important narrative that scans nearly a millenium. Secondly, this podcast serves to review highlights of the period for anyone needing a fast and lively review. All of the important points are made and they are tied together in a cohesive narrative. My only caution is that you ought not to expect anything more than what I have described--but perhaps that is enough.

More reviews of 12 Byzantine Rulers
Anders presents an informative and easy-to-follow way that demonstrates his vast knowledge of the subject. I've been amazed at the shenanigans, skulduggery, ambition, survival instincts, butchery and heroics I've heard about. Just struggling to remember all the characters names now!
