Response to Butchers and Liars part one and two
I stumbled upon The 12 Week Relationship Podcast with Pye Jirsa and Dr. Glenn Hong while searching for clarity about some of the public statements Jordan Peterson had made in regards to gender. Without knowing anything about the hosts, I was pleasantly surprised at their ability to disagree, and still validate each other’s points of view. When it comes to the modern day admiration for people like Jordan Peterson who just “say it like it is,” I do not believe that being fearless of ridicule makes his words worthy of a platform. Equating terms like “LatinX” to “intersectionality” is a false equivalence that serves to signal to like minded listeners that attempts to understand and create words for new ideas is a bogus liberal agenda. This isn’t brave or admirable. I am now curious if a growing number of JP’s followers are similarly infatuated with the way he says things regardless of what he is actually saying. I wouldn’t advise, admiring someone without first understanding the words that are coming out of their mouth.
