In September 2004, Florida Keys residents Carl “Charlie” Brandt and his wife Teri sought refuge from Hurricane Ivan in the Orlando home of Teri’s niece, Michelle Jones. A few days after the Brandts’ arrival, police discovered their bodies. Teri had been stabbed to death; Michelle had been brutally dismembered; and Charlie had hanged himself in the garage.
