Hail! Hail! Hickey’s History of Rock & Roll!
This is my new favorite podcast... by far. It’s thorough, smart, humorous, and extremely well executed. Andrew Hickey reminds me of Hitchcock... with his understated yet, captivating even-paced delivery. Riveting! While I recommend listening to this from beginning to end, I wouldn’t binge on it. Download Mixcloud... and listen to the well thought-out mixes for song references in relation to each episode. It’s the perfect companion to help digest and expand upon each chapter before going on to the next. I’d love to see Ken Burns collaborate with Andrew on a doc-series but, this works just fine... even without visuals. The storytelling is fantastic! As a lifelong musician, songwriter, performer, and producer, I can not give this podcast high enough praise. Thank you, Andrew!

Deep dives into the roots and pioneers of rock music. Andrew Hickey's approach is fresh and comes at familiar topics from new, unexpected angles. A must for anybody whose rock knowledge begins and ends at Rolling Stone hisotries (like mine did!)Read full review »

Insightful, comprehensive and compelling. One very small quibble: the music clips that are interspersed throughout the text tend to be much quieter in the mix than Andrew’s voice, which doesn’t quite do them justice.
