Skip these publicity-seeking pseudo-whistleblowers
Early on in the NXIVM case, something always irked me about their role in Rainiere’s cult. Watching The Vow cemented that (as well as the fact that they and Vicente were clearly far more complicit in the cult than they’ve admitted, and should probably be n investigated themselves) . These aren’t “brave whistleblowers.” These are people who actively contributed to the exploitation of others for years, and worked to conserve Rainiere’s system of indoctrination, their “remorse” is only for their own suffering, and not what they wrought on hundreds of others. Watching Seduced made it abundantly clear that these people only acted on this case because it became expedient for them to do so. I remember thinking, how many months before these folks start using their experiences to gain publicity for their own failed entertainment careers. And here we are. There are far better podcasts on cults with the same guests, that aren’t hosted by opportunists.
