There is a debate waging as to the future of legalized abortion in the United States of America. As a result of a leaked draft of a working document from the Supreme Court of the United States, people on both sides of this debate that has been ongoing for over a century are anticipating preparing for a decision eminently. For some people of faith, the abortion issue is their line in the sand. For others, it is a debate that will never be settled regardless of the court's opinion. In this editorial, I present the issue in a larger form: abortion is not about a court decision, it is a decision made by people for a myriad of reasons. Whether we support legalized abortion is not as important as how we treat those with whom we disagree and it pales in comparison to how we treat those who choose to have an abortion. I also argue that children need more than to be born; they need to be loved, thrive, and live free from harm.
