“The podcast provides useful and helpful info, BUT it’s painfully full of “UMs” which distract from the message. As a professional interviewer, “um” and “uh” should be few and far between. Maybe try the rubber band trick - put a rubber band on your wrist, (while listening to a few of your podcasts) snap your wrist every time you say “uh” and “um”. This will help you to break the habit quickly. Also, it’s helpful to have a list of transition words in front of you. Practicing go-to transitions will begin to feel natural and will lessen your dependence on saying, “um.” Also, learn to embrace The Pause. Pauses, aren’t easy to embrace - because even the briefest pause can feel like an endless silence. However, well-placed pauses will make you sound calm and collected. As a bonus, pauses also help to emphasize a point and give the listener time to absorb a key insight. Cheers to future podcasts um-free.”
