Description
On this week's show Denise reintroduces us to Greg Williams, the writer and producer of the film The Anonymous People, a film about the over 23 million Americans living in long term recovery from addiction to alcohol and drugs. With people sharing their stories of recovery it is hoped that there will be less stigma.
You can hear about the movie in my previous interview with Greg here.
Denise and Greg speak about a project that Greg is involved in, a large rally to take place in Washington, DC on Sunday, October 4th, 2015 called Unite to Face Addiction. In the discussion, Greg talks about over 500 non profit groups banding together to create awareness and to take the stigma away from addiction. The stories presented from those well known and not so well known in long term recovery will offer hope and proof that perceptions can be skewed. The Concert and Rally are hoped to be recalled as an historic event in the future. The concert lineup, so far, includes Steven Tyler, Sheryl Crow, Jason Isbell, The Fray, Joe Walsh, John Rzeznik , and more who have all been impacted by addiction in some way.
Greg shares with Denise the history, process, and details about this event.
Denise plans to attend this event and is raising funds for the project at GoFundMe. (http://gofundme.com)
