Occasional lazy idealism, but not horrible.
Occasional anecdotal experience used to try to discredit ideas or misrepresent the heart of certain arguments to try to drive a point that seems to try to answer an internal question of his. Harmless, really in the grand scheme of things. The ideal is a tool, and he seems to know this. But he doesn’t acknowledge the fact that material conditions are the most important determining factor in the development of critical faculties and a host of other cognitive variables, and therefore controlling the trajectory of your path through life and the lens with which you view the world. I keep hearing that social conditions aren’t a metric of materialism, so I guess I’m still confused about what he believes. I will keep listening for the interesting conversations.
