Ain’t Played Nobody
There are plenty of Call of Cthulhu actual-play podcasts to choose from on iTunes, but none of them are running Down Darker Trails, and few of them can boast such a fine balance of all the elements that make for an enjoyable listening experience: an intriguing mystery, professional production, likable characters, quality voice-acting, competent GMing, comic relief—and most of all—they actually use the rule set. On top of that, Ain’t Slayed Nobody features the perfect mix of dust, whiskey, horses, and six-shooters. And although it’s early in the story, there seems to be a firm promise for an escalation of horror as the episodes progress. If you’re in the mood for weird fiction on the American frontier, or maybe you just want to get a taste of the Down Darker Trails setting for Call of Cthulhu, then stop at the iTunes Saloon, push through those swinging doors, pull up a barstool, order a whiskey, and listen closely to this creepy cowboy chronicle.
