Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind, has predicted that machines with human-level cognition will arrive within a decade. In an interview with Chris Mims at The Wall Street Journal’s Future of Everything festival, Hassabis stated that the last few years have seen incredible progress in AI, and he sees no reason why this won’t continue, with progress potentially accelerating. He said, “I think we could be just a few years, maybe within a decade away” from machines with human-level cognition.
