Spotify has taken down tens of thousands of AI-generated songs from Boomy, a music startup that enables users to generate original tracks by selecting different genres or descriptors of music. The move is in response to complaints about oversaturation and fraud on other streaming services.
Boomy’s business model involves users generating AI songs, which can then be uploaded to various streaming platforms, including Spotify, where royalties are paid for each listen. The California-based company claims that its users have generated over 14 million songs since it was launched two years ago.
