“Alan's lack of appreciation of the topic is scary. Anybody can regurgitate the conclusions taken from studies that support your argument. Nobody, Alan, is suggesting mankind sit on the couch, not eat and not read (although borrowed library books have much less carbon footprint that a bought book!).
As my three year old would suggest, perhaps some compromise is required. Eating less meat (therefore reducing land clearing and methand production), turning the plasma TV off (rather than stand-by), and walking or cycling rather than driving to the shops are examples of pragmatic steps to reduce our environmental foot-print.
But to expouse these less radical views does not make good radio or copy.”
