“I just really like it. It recreates the feeling of sitting with a fellow Madonna fan(s) who gets it. They focus on the work, and discuss its context without letting it become a holier-than-thou study of genius. It’s pop music—brilliant pop music by a musician who continually presses the boundaries of the genre—but it’s pop music. I appreciate the personal stories about how each song related to them as they first heard it and where they are now. It’s also important that the show is unabashedly queer. The high stakes of the best Madonna songs are about falling in love with a boy, a new ambition, or yourself. The hosts talk about all those things in a very real way, and their chemistry is great.”
