“I hate goals. Just the thought of making goals brings horrible flashbacks of coming up with a way to make a goal at work “measurable” that has no measure. I prefer to just live life as it comes. So this may seem like quite the antithesis of a podcast that I should listen to. But I like Jon’s tweets, and I had some time in the car, so I thought I’d give it a go. That was 1 week ago.
I’ve now listened to all the episodes twice. I knew I hated goals because the pressure and potential disappointment is overwhelming; I’d rather just be happy. I didn’t know I hated them because I was thinking of them all wrong. So there I sat, in my car, crying as I realized that I can do this. I am sitting down tonight to write my first goal for myself, ever, at age 36.
