“I thank you. Sometimes you feel you are the only one going through this horrible grief alone. I first had to deal with grief when I was 8 years old, when my older sister passed away. And throughout the years have dealt with other family members passing. But not until the years between 2015-2019 did I ever feel the incredible weight of death, when I lost my father, my brother, my sister in law, and then my mother. Within 3 and a half years, I was all alone. Your description of going through your mothers things, brought me back to my task of emptying my parents home, with 55 years worth of memories, and just stuff!! My mother also kept everything, school work, drawings, all of our toys, clothing. It was and still is a daunting task. I always knew my parents would pass one day but I always thought I would have my brother to help me. That is the hardest part. Humor has helped me, finding things and then just looking up and saying “ Mom really, why did you keep this”. Also watching those Hoarder shows, yes really! I keep telling myself, you don’t want to be a hoarder, so let it go. I am still going through this and I look forward to more of your podcasts, to gain insight and to realize I am not alone. Thank you again.”
