Great soccer storytelling
I’ve been listening to MiB for about three seasons, now, and Roger’s ability to couple humor and irony with earnestness and feeling (although he says he doesn’t feel) is the show’s beating heart. Marrying his sensibility with WNYC’s ability to support storytelling is a match made in...well, heaven seems just too optimistic for Roger, but you get the point. I just listened to Episode One and I can’t wait to listen to the rest. As someone who was 15 in the summer of 1994, gleefully trying to videorecord games on my parents’ VCR, hearing these names again sounded like King Henry’s speech before the battle of Agincourt, with Lalas, Ramos, and Balboa subbed in for Exeter, Salisbury, and York. I can’t wait to listen to the rest. Thanks for making it.
